Welcome to the website of the Camperdown & District Historical Society.

Our Society is a volunteer based, non-profit organisation dedicated to the preservation, study and promotion of Camperdown & district history.

Activities:

  • Our Society meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 7.30 p.m. in the McCabe Room at Camperdown.


  • Most meetings feature a guest speaker.


  • Regular field trips are held, sometimes to places rarely open to the general public.


  • Our Society also runs a 'Heritage Centre', featuring a museum and excellent research facilities.


  • Visitors are most welcome.

Heritage Centre:

         Visit our Heritage Centre and enjoy our;
  • Museum: an extensive collection of photographs, documents, artefacts and memorabilia.


  • Research Facilities: up to date IT equipment, computerised records and expert volunteers to assist with family and local history research.


  • Guided Tours: of historic Camperdown and district, by arrangement.
Camperdown (pop. 3500)
is nestled in a picturesque volcanic landscape and has many fine historic buildings.

The district has a fascinating history of Aboriginal and European settlement.

Camperdown is famous
for its Clock Tower and
beautiful Avenue of Elms.
